Founded in 1899 and celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, The Anti-Cruelty Society is Chicago’s oldest animal welfare organization. They accept any animal for any reason and find homes for over 5,700 each year. The main adoption center, completed in 1979, was designed by Stanley Tigerman with a facade that represents the face of a basset hound. The Art Deco facade on Grand Avenue dates to 1936.
