DETAILS:

Growing Home works to ensure access to good jobs and good food on the South Side of Chicago through innovative work in urban agriculture. It offers a comprehensive, paid employment training program to help individuals with barriers to employment find and keep stable, full-time jobs. Its USDA-certified organic farms provide healthy, fresh food and food education to neighbors in Englewood. Built in 2006, Growing Home's 1.5 acre Wood Street Urban Farm is Chicago's only high production USDA-certified organic farm and is a fantastic example of edible greenscapes in Chicago. Growing Home will host our annual HarvestFest in conjunction with Open House Chicago. This event features a local vendor market, kids activities, pumpkin decorating, free food boxes & more to celebrate community and the end of the growing season. Free event for all.
