Unity Park

Unity Park is a resident-driven initiative to provide a safe place for young people and residents to play, gather, connect and enjoy beauty and nature in a former alley. It is located in the K-Town Historic District which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2019, world-famous cellist Yo-Yo Ma performed at Unity Park and helped plant trees as part of an ongoing initiative to increase the tree canopy in North Lawndale. In 2021, artist Lavie Raven painted a beautiful mural featuring the flora and fauna of Unity Park; later in the year, the first Story Trail on the West Side was installed by Open Books, Neighbor 2 Neighbor Literacy, Human Scale and NeighborSpace. Unity Park is protected by NeighborSpace.
